How to save energy and money
At Yeehlow we know that bills can really make the difference when it comes to deciding which house to rent. If not taken care of, the expenses for electricity and gas can easily boost the prices of a property and make it unaffordable or unworthy to live there.
Sometimes, though, small details are enough to keep prices down month after month. Here you find a list with 5 little tricks that will instantly help you saving money and energy!
Turn off home electronics
Try and get into the habit of turning off completely the tv, the Wi-Fi and any other device when you’re not using them. Also, always remember to deactivate the air conditioning when you’re not home!
Use energy-efficient light bulbs
Light bulbs can definitely make the difference when it comes to saving energy. Replace existing incandescent bulbs with light emitting diode bulbs (LEDs) which use about 70% to 90% less energy.
Switch to insulated fixtures
Well insulated window fixtures will retain heat in winter and keep the hot air at a distance during summer. This is particularly important if your windows are located in proximity of radiators! Furthermore, it would be useful to insulate the ceilings and seal any hole in the exterior walls.
Take care of your electrical appliances
A clean oven, toaster and washing machine will perform much better than a dirty one. Therefore, clean your appliances regularly and replace the filters when needed: this will save you money both on the short term, by lowering the bills’ prices, and on the long period since the devices will last much longer!
Get the most out of natural light
When possible, exploit the natural light and try to make the most out of it: use thin and bright curtains, keep windows open and place your furniture accordingly to the light sources. This will instantly give the house a more natural, glowy look and while saving tons of money on electrical lighting.
